After five years constructing their dream home complete with its own bowling alley, opera house and veranda with seating for 450, Alan and Shirley Goldfield realised something: it was too big.
So instead of moving into the extravagant Champ d'Or - French for 'field of gold' - they decided to put the Texas property, which cost them $46 million to build, on the market.
After aiming to sell the mansion for anywhere between $72 and $35 million, it is now going on auction with a reserve of just $10.3 million - although the auction house believes it will fetch much more.
