Bruce Willis Lists Lakefront Idaho Property For $4 Million -- Wall Street Journal

Actor Bruce Willis has listed 1 acre on exclusive Pettit Lake in Ketchum, Idaho, for $4 million.

The "Die Hard" and "The Sixth Sense" star tore down a cabin on the waterfront property in 1993 and built three log cabins.

The main cabin is two stories with three bedrooms; there is also a second two-bedroom cabin and a third studio cabin with a full bathroom. Although they have a rustic look, the cabins have such amenities as stainless-steel kitchen appliances, washers and dryers and jetted tubs.

GOP Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney's Home Under The Spotlight

Mitt Romney's 4-Car Fantasy Home -- Politico

SAN DIEGO — At Mitt Romney’s proposed California beach house, the cars will have their own separate elevator.

There’s also a planned outdoor shower and a 3,600-square foot basement — a room with more floor space than the existing home’s entire living quarters.

Those are just some of the amenities planned for the massive renovation of the Romneys’ home in the tony La Jolla neighborhood of San Diego, according to plans on file with the city.

A project this ambitious comes with another feature you don’t always find with the typical fixer-upper: its own lobbyist, hired by Romney to push the plan through the approval process.

Work on the project has not yet begun.

A Home That Is Linked To Ronald Reagan, Richard Gere, And Bob Dylan

The LA house has ties to Ronald Reagan, Bob Dylan and Richard Gere

A Hollywood Home Linked To Ronald Reagan And Bob Dylan -- The Telegraph

A house in LA with ties to Ronald Reagan, Bob Dylan and Richard Gere is for sale on the property market.

Even in the rich folklore of Hollywood real estate, it is hard to beat the story, dating from the Eighties, of Richard Gere coming to view a property that, unknown to him, had a celebrity tenant.

Gere, house-hunting at the time, wanted to inspect the master bedroom, but was refused admission by the man inside, who kept the door firmly shut. “But I am Richard Gere,” the actor protested. “And I am Bob Dylan,” came a voice from behind the door. Game, set and match to the singer-songwriter. Why should the great poet of American protest put himself out for a mere movie star?

6 Homes From Famous Films For Sale In Real Life

The Twilight: New Moon House
Vancouver, British Columbia
Sold For: $2.48 million
Iconic Scene: Jasper attacks Bella at her birthday party
The biggest risk in living here might be the hordes of tweens willing to commit felonies for a glimpse of vampire Edward Cullen’s bedroom. When it came on the market, the listing got 180,000 hits in its first week. As a result, prospective buyers had to pass a screening test before they were even allowed to see the place up close. Still, it took two years and a couple rounds of price cuts to get the deal done.

6 Homes From Famous Films For Sale In Real Life -- Fiscal Times

You’d think that having your home featured in a celebrated film would guarantee a buyer when resale time rolled around -- but it seems even fame can’t fight the housing slump. Over the past few years, some of pop culture’s most recognizable homes have come on the market with surprisingly limited success.

Take the iconic glass house featured in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Originally put up for sale in May 2009 at an asking price of $2.3 million, almost a year later that price dropped to $1.8 million. Early this year, another dip brought it down to $1.65 million, and still no dice. The house’s starring role didn’t translate into the big award: a sale. In fact, The Fiscal Times found six iconic houses from well-known movies that have been for sale over the past three years, and only two of them have sold.

Europe's Most Luxurious Properties

Heath Hall in Hampstead Garden Suburb, London, could be yours for a mere £100 million. Ed Hill

Billionaires' Playgrounds -- Wall Street Journal

For those wealthy enough to invest in the so-called 'super-prime' housing market, the only way for their portfolio is up.

While bubbles have burst, prices tumbled and sales declined in the broad property markets across Europe, at the very top end, in the prime locations, it is often a very different story. Central London is the gold standard of international luxury residential property, but there are other areas, from Paris to Monaco to Tuscany, that are not far behind.

"At the prime end and even more at the super-prime end of the London market, prices are at an all-time high. You would not recognize that there was an economic crisis," says Simon Rubinsohn, chief economist of the U.K. property professional body, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

For Rent: Manhattan's Highest Penthouses

In a bid to push the luxury apartment market ever higher, developer Forest City Ratner plans to rent penthouse units in the city's tallest residential building. The price? $60,000 per month.

Views From The Market Top -- Wall Street Journal

Rentals Reach $60,000 a Month for Penthouses in Gehry Tower Downtown.

At the tallest residential tower in the Western Hemisphere, the developers are gambling that wealthy New Yorkers will pay dearly for a trophy apartment with sweeping views—even if it is only on loan.

In the next six to eight weeks, the three penthouses at New York by Gehry, a Manhattan rental tower twisting 76 stories into the sky, will hit the market at a price that would make most apartment-hunters blanch: $40,000 to $60,000 a month.

At that rate, a year's rent could easily cover a down payment on almost any luxury condo unit in the city. So it remains to be seen if affluent New Yorkers will spend that kind of money to borrow a view—even one that is 850 feet above Lower Manhattan, glances off the roof of the Woolworth Building, spans all three bridges and stretches out past Brooklyn to the Atlantic Ocean.

Kensington Palace Opens To The Public After A £12m Makeover

Nice Pad, But I Bet Kate Changes The Wallpaper! As Kensington Palace Opens To The Public After A £12m Makeover We Take An Exclusive Tour Of Kate And Will's New Home -- Daily Mail

Not since the Windsor fire of 1992, has there been a royal makeover on this scale. Indeed, the last time a palace went through a facelift of this magnitude, it was courtesy of a German bomb.

In the case of Kensington Palace, however, this £12million transformation has not been prompted by any misfortune but by years of careful planning. Admittedly, there has been one unexpected, 11th-hour alteration to the designs.

But no one is complaining about the decision of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to set up home here — because their presence in the private wing of the palace is only going to draw even more visitors through the doors on the public side.

The Ten Most Expensive Homes In New York (Photo Gallery)

The Woolworth Mansion on East 80th Street for $90 million.
This 19,950-square-foot mansion was built in the late 1890s for the retail magnate, Frank Woolworth. It's definitely how the other half lived (even though that other half is now reduced to a mere one percent.) The neo-French Renaissance mansion has a limestone facade and is super-sized everything -- massive fireplaces, formal rooms, a dining room that can seat more than 50. We assume that if you have $90 million to spend on a house, you probably know that many people to invite to dinner.

Leon Max is one of a clutch of rich Russians buying up chunks of Britain. And now, he is is launching an assault on the country's smart set

At the end of a long green alley stands a mini-Versailles, nine windows wide, approached by a pair of billowing stairs.

Cream stone façade, stone lions caged on the roof by a four-square balustrade – Easton Neston looks like the home of a Renaissance prince.

The house was built in 1702, by the architect Nicholas Hawksmoor. Unusually for such an exquisite piece of architecture, it’s never been open to the public.

Osama Bin Laden's '2004 House In Pakistan' Back On The Market -- The Telegraph

A smart house in a bustling town just over 20 miles north of Islamabad was lived in by Osama bin Laden and his family in 2004, according to new research - and it can be yours for £150 a month.

No-one took much notice of the two brothers who moved their families into the smart house at the end of the track.

Their pickup and minivan came and went, but nothing was glimpsed of the wives and children living behind the 10-foot wall.

But eight years later a shocking question is emerging: Could Osama bin Laden have lived in the four-bedroom house in Haripur, a bustling town just over 20 miles north of the capital Islamabad.
