Talk About Over-Spending On A Mega-Mansion

A Silicon Valley home purchased by a wealthy Russian for $100million has now been valued at exactly half of what Yuri Milner paid.

Mr Milner purchased the sprawling French chateau-style mansion last March as a pied-a-terre for times when he was away from his first home in Moscow.

However, a recent valuation of the Los Altos Hills property by the Santa Clara County Assessor's Office found is was worth $50million less than what he paid.

The funny thing is ..... Yuri Milner probably does not care that he paid more than what he should have for this mansion.

A mansion in Silicon Valley known as "Le Soleil" is hitting the auction block June 14.

The house was originally listed at $21 million, but the starting bid will be $7.9 million and a buyer could scoop up the home prior to the auction for $12.95 million.

The house sits on five acres of land, and features seven bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and two half bathrooms

A Russian billionaire investor paid $100 million for a French chateau-style mansion in Silicon Valley, marking the highest known price paid for a single-family home in the U.S.

The purchase of the 25,500-square-foot home in Los Altos Hills, Calif., underscores the strength of some luxury properties in an otherwise depressed housing market.

The buyer, Yuri Milner, 49, who heads Digital Sky Technologies and whose investments include Facebook Inc., Groupon Inc. and Zynga Inc., had no immediate plans to move into the home, said a spokesman.
